Trump to Chair Gaza ‘Board of Peace’; Ajay Banga, Tony Blair Among Key Members

Washington, DC: Former US President Donald Trump has announced the formation of a high-level “Board of Peace” to oversee Phase Two of his 20-Point Peace Plan aimed at ending the Gaza conflict and steering the region toward long-term stability, reconstruction, and economic recovery.

According to a White House statement released Saturday, Donald Trump will personally chair the Board of Peace, signaling what his office described as a “hands-on commitment to lasting peace and prosperity in Gaza.”

High-Profile Global Leaders Appointed

The founding members of the Board of Peace include a mix of senior political figures, global financiers, and diplomatic heavyweights:

  • Marco Rubio, US Secretary of State

  • Tony Blair, former UK Prime Minister

  • Ajay Banga, President of the World Bank Group

  • Steve Witkoff, Trump’s Special Envoy

  • Jared Kushner, senior advisor and Trump’s son-in-law

  • Marc Rowan, CEO of Apollo Global Management

  • Robert Gabriel, US Deputy National Security Adviser

The White House said each executive board member will oversee a defined portfolio critical to Gaza’s long-term success, including governance capacity-building, reconstruction, regional relations, investment attraction, and large-scale capital mobilisation.

Senior Advisors and On-Ground Leadership

To manage daily operations, Trump has appointed Aryeh Lightstone and Josh Gruenbaum as senior advisors. Their mandate includes translating the Board’s diplomatic priorities into “disciplined execution on the ground.”

Meanwhile, Nickolay Mladenov will serve as High Representative for Gaza, acting as the key on-the-ground liaison between the Board of Peace and the newly established National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG).

Palestinian Technocratic Government Backed

Trump said the Board of Peace will support a Palestinian technocratic government under the NCAG to govern Gaza during its transition period.

“As Chairman of the Board of Peace, I am backing a newly appointed Palestinian Technocratic Government… committed to a peaceful future,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social.

The White House described the NCAG as a “vital step forward” in implementing Phase Two of the comprehensive peace roadmap, which focuses on stability, reconstruction, and economic revitalisation.

Regional Support and Demilitarisation Push

With backing from Egypt, Turkey, and Qatar, the next phase of the plan will seek a comprehensive demilitarisation agreement with Hamas, including:

  • Surrender of all weapons

  • Dismantling of tunnel networks

  • Security guarantees to prevent future escalation

Background: Phase One Success

The US-backed Gaza peace plan was first implemented on October 10, 2025, resulting in the return of all hostages held by Hamas and formally ending active hostilities in the region, according to US officials.

What Comes Next

Phase Two will focus on rebuilding Gaza’s infrastructure, restoring governance institutions, and unlocking international investment to drive long-term prosperity. Officials say the newly formed Board of Peace will play a central role in coordinating governments, financial institutions, and regional partners to ensure sustained peace.

With Trump at the helm and a roster of globally influential figures on board, the initiative marks one of the most ambitious international governance efforts ever proposed for Gaza’s post-conflict future.
