Report Alleges Trump Demanded $1bn for ‘Board of Peace’ Seat as White House Pushes Back

US Trump, the president of America Donald Trump is asking countries to shell out at least US$1 billion if they wish to have to be a permanent member of the proposed Board of Peace, according to a draft charter that was seen by Bloomberg.

White House response

The White House sought to push back against reports of a cost to join the Board of Peace, with its official Rapid Response 47 account posting on X: “This is misleading. There isn’t a fee for membership that is required in order to be a member of this Board of Peace.”

The statement included a caveat that reads: the framework “simply gives an ongoing membership for partner countries that show a strong commitment to security, peace, and prosperity.

What would the Board of Peace would do

The charter defines the Board of Peace as an international body that aims to foster stability, improving governance and securing peace in zones that are affected by conflicts.

The board will become officially recognized after three countries have ratified the charter. Trump will also be able to approve the seal as official and also control the agenda for meetings in accordance with the document.

The meetings for voting will be held every year at least in addition to additional meetings that would be scheduled at the discretion of the chairman. Trump will also be granted the authority to dismiss members unless he is the removal is blocked by a vote of two-thirds from the committee.

Gaza plan draws criticism
